The best genes
We have some of the world’s best genes, which has been confirmed in the German ”Warentest IX”, a comparison test carried out in 2008, comparing it with six other breeding systems.

DanAvl’s genes are based on years of experience from breeding with the three breeds of DanAvl Landrace, DanAvl Yorkshire and DanAvl Duroc. This guarantees you piglets with good traits, regardless of whether they are bred by your or you purchase.

Large and robust litters
Due to the high genetic level of the sows, they have more surviving piglets per litter than with other systems. The results of the Warentest IX showed that DanAvl sows give birth to an average of 13,63 live born piglets, which makes DanAvl sows the most fruitful sows.

Optimal feed utilisation
Making use of good genes results in piglets from DanAvl being able to ingest and utilise their feed to the full. This leads to piglets spending up to nine days less in the slaughterhouse in comparison to other piglets, according to the Warentest IX.

High daily weight gain
The positive feed uptake per kg of weight gain means that piglets grow quickly and achieve a high proportion of muscle. For daily weight gain, Warentest IX showed that DanAvl animals grew up to 942 g/day and exhibited a weight gain of 659 g/day per kg of meat.

High lean meat percentage and good meat quality
The high proportion of muscle and the good meat quality from DanAvl pigs was achieved as a result of over 100 years of experience of breeding. For this reason, Danish pig producers use DanAvl Duroc boars as fathers for production pigs that have a good meat quality and optimum fat marbling, and a cross between DanAvl Landrace and DanAvl Yorkshire sows, because these ensure a high proportion of muscle.

Guaranteed genetic progress
Anyone who decides to work with DanAvl benefits from years of experience of positive genetic progress. And if the system’s potential is used to the full, there is not only genetic progress, but also significantly improved overall efficiency.
